独自の文化やIT大国として話題のエストニア出身のデュオ・ルートはまだ20代前半のカタリーナ・キヴィとアン・リゼット・レバネからなるデュオです。
彼女達が演奏するのは「エストニアの箏」と言われる伝統民族楽器「カンネル」。
通常は1人で演奏する楽器として親しまれてきましたが、彼女達は1台を2人で、そして向かい合って。と言う独自のスタイルを築き上げました。

A duo consisting of Katariina Kivi and Ann-Lisett Rebane in their early twenties.
They play the traditional folk instrument "kannel".
Usually kannel is played as a solo instrument, but they have created a unique style of playing one instrument with two people and facing each other.

エストニアは創造性を育てる文化が根付いている!?
2016年、デュオ・ルートは活動を開始しました。作品としてのC Dアルバムは2019年12月に「Tuulesõnad」が満を辞してリリースされました。
活動開始からCDリリースまでの3年間だけでもエストニア国内で数多くの音楽賞を受賞しています。
CDや音源をリリースする前のアーティストが数々の音楽賞を受賞するなど日本では中々ない出来事です。エストニアではキャリアに関係なく良いものは良いと言える、新たな創造力を育む土壌が出来上がっているのかもしれません。
ちなみに彼女達のデビューアルバムは「エストニア-エスノミュージックアワード（「Etnokulbid」）2020」で「デビューアルバムオブザイヤー」にノミネートされています。
